The provincial government of Bohol is suspending “motourism” program and future related events after several incidents were recorded over the weekend.
In a statement on Monday night, the provincial government of Bohol wished to clarify that Bohol Loop 2024 last March 23-24 was organized solely by Loop PH.
It said that the ” role of the Provincial Government of Bohol, along with other national government agency partners, is to provide support and to ensure the success of the event.”
It said that Loop PH has assured the provincial government of Bohol that it would extend assistance to the bereaved family and is committed to treat with urgency the matter of safety of both our locals and loopers.
The provincial government is likewise reviewing existing policies on similar events, with the end goal of making safety and security a priority for our people and our guests.
“In the meantime, the Provincial Government is suspending future related events. Our Bohol Provincial Tourism Office is open to any query regarding the matter,” it said.
Several road mishaps in different towns were recorded during the event.
Last Saturday, March 23, a loop participant identified as Suzette Lacanaria from Cagayan de Oro City collided with a non-participant Ana Marie Tasic in Sikatuna town.
Both were rushed to a hospital in Tagbilaran but Tasic died on Sunday.
