Seven fishermen alleged involved in illegal fishing were arrested in the waters off Bien Unido on Tuesday, Oct. 31.
The anti-illegal fishing seaborne patrol teams also confiscated illegal fishing paraphernalia.
The Bien Unido Municipal Police Station in Bohol conducted seaborne patrol in the waters off island- barangays of Sagasa and Bilangbilangan of Bien Unido which resulted in the arrest of seven illegal fishermen who were residents of Talibon town who were caught in-the-act of using fishing gear locally known as “boso”.
The fishermen were identified as
Fredie Abangan, 44; Jerry Abangan, 44; Moises Ompad, 57; Jonald Complitad, 29; Junjie Apawan, 51; Eduard Candia, 42; and Efjun Tahanlangit, 25.
Police confiscated a pump boat, and other illegal fishing paraphernalia from the suspects.
Police urged the fishermen to adhere to the provisions of the Philippine Fisheries Code of 1998 and all local ordinances protecting the marine life.
