The long-delayed Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections in Bohol province have been “generally peaceful”, police said Monday.

“The elections are generally peaceful,” said Col. Lorenzo Batuan, provincial director of Bohol Police Provincial Office.

There were no election related incidents reported on election day except for a shooting incident in Barangay San Miguel in Dagohoy town on Saturday.

The Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting, the citizens’ arm of Comelec, echoed this observation.

Canvassing began as voting in the Barangay and SK polls concluded at 3 p.m., except for a few precincts that experienced delay.

At least 981,000 registered voters flocked to polling centers to vote for village and youth leaders for the first time since 2018.
