Nearly 200 fainting students in Talibon town rushed to hospital

Around 200 high school students of San Jose National High School in Talibon town, Bohol passed out and rushed to the hospital on Friday morning, Sept. 15, after fainting while they attended a Holy Mass.

Talibon police said that based on their initial investigation, the incident started when three students collapsed, causing others to panic and faint.

It said that approximately 2,000 students, along with the school faculty, had assembled for the Holy Mass.

Then others displayed unusual strength. Later on they lost consciousness.

Because of the incident, the school’s administration has canceled classes in all levels in the afternoon.

Local responders from different local governments rushed 195 students to President Carlos P. Garcia Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The students were discharged from the hospital on the same day after undergoing examination. However, a source said there two students who were admitted at the hospital.

There were rumors that some of the victims were possessed by evil spirits, but this was denied by the school administration.

Some residents claimed the students were
allegedly possessed by evil spirits from the balete tree.

Zian Evardo posted a video of his nephew who was crying.. The student sais he saw a black man at the balete tree.

Another student said a “heavy” presence was hanging on to her, while another claimed that a “black figure” was attempting to enter her body.

A school official who asked not to be named said the students reportedly suffered signs of fainting, anxiety and other symptoms at school before being brought to hospital.

Deped-Division of Bohol has yet to issue a statement.
