Gov. Aris Aumentado has called to reflect and pause on the realities of our present time as the Philippines celebrates its 125th year of independence.

“As we celebrate our independence, let us also take a moment to reflect and pause on the realities of our present time. It is crucial we pause and ask ourselves what we seek and what we envision for
our country in the next one hundred and twenty-five years and beyond,” said Aumentado who delivered a speech during the Independence Day program at the provincial Capitol of Bohol on Monday.

He said 125 years later, the Filipinos continue to enjoy the fruits of those sacrifices — our freedom, our liberty, and our sovereignty.

He added that our forefathers consecrated themselves to a higher and bigger vision, surrendered their personal dreams and aspirations, and secured for us a nation we can call our home, and where future generations of Filipinos could flourish, bring change, and share the torch of our great republican values and democracy around the world.

“Hence, let us remain faithful to the valuable lessons that the past has presented to us. These lessons serve as our guiding light as we reflect on the future, not only for our province but also for our beloved country, the Philippines. We are stewards of a great nation, and what lays ahead of us is defined by courage, strong sense of determination, and most importantly, faith in being Filipinos — qualities exemplified by our forefather,” he said.

May this celebration ignite a new flame of hope in our hearts and drive us forward with courage, hope, and optimism. More than ever, we need to come around, support each other, and be a force for constructive engagement and partnership in our pursuit for good governance, inclusive development, and smart growth. Together, let us embrace the spirit of freedom, patriotism, and justice for all.
