The provincial government of Bohol has banned pork and byproducts coming from Cebu province and Cebu City after some pigs there tested positive for African Swine Fever (ASF).
Gov. Aris Aumentado issued Executive Order (EO) 11 on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 to protect the P6-billion hog and livestock industries in the province.
“The entry of live pigs, pork, swine feeds, frozen semen, and other pork-related products from the island province of Cebu and Cebu City into the province of Bohol is hereby prohibited,” said Aumentado in his order.
The entry of transport vehicles/carriers coming from the inland province of Cebu province and city shall be allowed only at the port areas in the province of Bohol; transport vehicles/couriers shall not be allowed outside the port area premises.
The entry imported pork meat passing through island province of Cebu shall be allowed entry into the province of Bohol provided the boxes/packages shall be opened only in a National Meat Inspection Services (NMIS) accredited cold storage facilities in the province of Bohol.
To minimize the negative impact at the local supply of swine feeds , the province of Bohol shall source swine food from other safe areas.
Earlier, Aumentado said Bohol remains to be ASF-free.
