Fancy Baluyot, longtime Bohol Red Cross head, dies

Francisca “Fancy” Baluyot, longtime leader of Bohol chapter of the Philippine Red Cross, died Monday morning, Nov. 14. She was 82.

Her death was confirmed by family and friends.

“What a blessing, gift, and privilege it is to have you in our lives, Mama. How happy God is to welcome you home. We love you so much, Mama Fancy. Forever,” a post by lawyer Fama Baluyot.

Baluyot’s death has sparked an outpouring of emotion from friends and beneficiaries who remembered her numerous free surgical missions.

Balilihan Mayor Pureza Chatto said, “Nang Fancy, you are an awesome woman dedicating your life in community service and charity works with much love and compassion. As you take your final bow, we say, THANK YOU! Rest peacefully in God’s Kingdom.”

“Salamat sa imong gugma ug serbisyo sa mga Bol-anon, Rest In Peace Rtn.”Fancy” Francisca Baluyot ,A wonderful person and great inspiration,” said former Tagbilaran City councilor Agalon” Dodong” Polinar.

“Mommy Fancy is kind-hearted and has a beautiful soul,” the JCI Chocolate Hills said in a statement. She served as Chocolate Hills charter president.

Baluyot was also the longtime president and chief executive officer of the Philippine Gift of Life.

She was former Gov. Edgar Chatto’s medical-surgical mission consultant.

For her civic and humanitarian involvements, she was awarded as
Ten Outstanding Boholanos Around the World (TOBAW).
