More than 80,000 pink-clad supporters showed up for Vice President Leni Robredo’s “Dilaab: Bohol People’s Proclamation Rally” for her presidential bid on Friday, April 1, in Bohol.
Local organizers said the crowd was 10 times more than their initial projection of 6,000 attendees.
Robredo and her runningmate Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan visited Jagna town for a rally. A crowd of 3,000 welcomed them at Jagna gymnasium past 1:30 p. m.
After Jagna, Robredo and Pangilinan proceeded to Talibon town to attend another rally.
A total of 80,000 people welcomed Robredo and Pangilinan at old Tagbilaran Airport.
Robredo said she was surprised of the crowd, collectively calling themselves “Kakampinks” in reference to her campaign color.
“Ang inyong yangungo atuang paminawon, kung aduna moy problema atuang sulbarun. Paningkamutan nato. Ito po ang totoong unity, hindi pagkakaisa ng mga pulitiko, kundi pagkakaisa ng mga Pilipino,” said Robredo.
She said the same support from Boholanos who voted for her during the 2016 elections. She garnered 273, 589 votes, while former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. got 79,729 votes for vice president.
“Makasalig ba ako sa maong suporta? Nga maangkon nato ang mas labaw pang kadaugan?,” asked Robredo, while the crowd chanting “Leni! Leni! Leni!”
