Cebu agencies launch donation drive, send aid to quake-hit areas in Mindanao

Three batches of relief from Cebu were sent to Mindanao for the survivors of the recent earthquakes there.

The Philippine Coast Guard in Central Visayas (PCG-7) and Department of Social Welfare and Development in Central Visayas (DSWD-7) sent two vehicles on Saturday afternoon loaded with relief items.

These two vehicles departed the headquarters of PCG-7 bound for Cagayan de Oro via Bohol and Plaridel, Ozamis route onboard Lite Ferry 15.

One truck was loaded with 13,900 cans of sardines and 28 sacks of malong.

Another truck was loaded with 2,000 cans of sardines, 13 sacks of malong and 42 roll of canvass (trapal).

On Saturday morning, a second batch of relief were sent. The second batch of relief include 54,100 cans of sardines; eight canvass tents; 26,720 pieces of malong; 1,000 sleeping kits; and 5,040 bottles of mineral water from Nature Spring.

These were transported on board PCG-7’s vessel.

On Friday night, there were also two trucks loaded with 2,400 bottles of mineral water and another truck loaded with 3,954 bottles of mineral water, 423 food packs, 57 pieces of canvass tents, and 65 mosquito nets. These were brought to Cagayan De Oro City.

It was on Thursday, Oct. 31 when PCG-7 began its relief campaign.

Lt. Jr. Grade Michael John Encina urged those who would prefer to send their donations to PCG, to call at its landline number – (032) 402-0489 and mobile numbers 0917-622-1642, 0998-585-8301, and 0917-842-7102.

Those who live in southern Cebu can call 0905-402-4431 while those who live in Camotes can call 0917-809-5729. Those who live in Bohol can call 0917-816-3121.
