New police chief Installed in Tagbilaran City

TAGBILARAN CITY — The Bohol Police Provincial Office (BPPO) on Thursday, April 16, 2026, formally installed a new officer-in-charge of the Tagbilaran City Police Station.

Provincial Director Col. Patricio Degay Jr. led the installation of Lt. Col. Joey Mallare Bicoy as officer-in-charge chief of police, replacing Lt. Col. John Kareen Escober.

Bicoy brings with him extensive experience in police operations, having previously served as Force Commander of the Bohol Police Provincial Mobile Force Company from 2024 to early 2025. He later held the position of Deputy Provincial Director for Operations of the BPPO.

Police officials expressed confidence in Bicoy’s leadership, citing his familiarity with the province and strong connection with local communities.

His appointment is expected to strengthen law enforcement efforts in Tagbilaran City, with a leadership approach anchored on operational experience and an understanding of the Boholano community.
