303 residents evacuated in Tubigon

At least 303 residents of Bagongbanwa Island, Bilangbilangang Island and Ubay Island in Tubigon town were evacuated on Wednesday, Dec. 15.

They were brought to Tubigon Cultural and Sports Center.

Village chiefs accepted the recommendation from the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council of the pre-emptive evacuation among residents of the island-barangays and island puroks in Tubigon in preparation for the Tropical Cyclone #OdettePH.

The coordination with the BDRRMC and the MDRRMC through the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), Tubigon Emergency Response Service and Support Unit (TERSSU), Seaborne Patrol and Philippine Coastguard made the evacuation possible, prompt and safe.

Mayor William R. Jao and Vice-Mayor Rene C. Villaber visited the evacuees and checked their condition and the immediate needs of the evacuees.

The Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) through Rey D. Envidiado with the Office staff provideed meals and other basic necessities.

The number of evacuees is expected to rise as some of village officials already requested assistance for evacuation that includes Pangapasan Island with 50 possible evacuees.
