A Youth Leadership Summit 2021 was conducted in Batuan town last November 19-21, 2021.

The three-day summit was organized by the 47th Infantry (Katapatan) Batallion, 3rd Infantry (Spearhead) Division, Philippine Army headed by Commanding Officer LTC Allyson A Depayso, INF, (GSC), PA, in partnership with the local government unit of Batuan, Bohol headed by Municipal Mayor Antonino Jumawid and the Sangguniang Kabataan in Batuan headed by Sangguniang Kabataan Federation President Sam Joseph Barril.

With the theme, “Hiniusang Kusog sa Batan-ong Batuananon alang sa Padayon nga Kalinaw ug Kauswagan”, the summit aimed to empower the youth to become advocators of peace and promote character base leadership skills, uplift their awareness on the roles of the youth in nation-building, inculcate the virtues of patriotism and nationalism.

The leadership summit was participated in by around 43 youth leaders, aged 15 – 30 from selected barangays mostly from spot areas prone to extremism.

The summit facilitators were from Youth for Peace Philippines Bohol Chapter headed by Jemar Palomares, and 62nd Special Company headed by Lt. Fort Anthony A Valdez.

It was also attended by Philippine Army personnel headed by 2LT Charmaine Sancho, CMO Officer, 47IB, and guest speakers from Municipal Health Office, Provincial Youth Development Office, Department of Interior and Local Government Unit of Batuan, Bohol Provincial Police Office, and Diocese of Tagbilaran.

During the opening program, Barril thnaked the participants and reminded the youth to become leaders of tomorrow.

Jumawid encouraged the youth to listen and actively participate throughout the activities.

Major Jason Toreno, acting Battalion Executive Officer, confirmed the youth graduates of this year’s Youth Leadership Summit during the closing program on November 21.
