Tagbilaran City celebrates its 55th Charter Day today, July 1, 2021, with no fanfare due to pandemic.

Tagbilaran City achieved its cityhood status on July 1, 1966 by virtue of Republic Act 4660 signed by then President Ferdinand Edralin Marcos.

The Tagbilaran City Charter Day is also a special non-working holiday for city establishments.

Bohol 1st district Rep. Edgar Chatto said “Tagbilaran City has evolved into its own tourist destination over the years, proud of its rich history, and vibrant culture while maintaining its identity as the City of Friendship.”

“Tagbilaran has likewise blossomed into a city brimming with opportunity and progress, a dynamic center for education, employment, and entrepreneurship,” he added.
