The municipality of Guindulman was named grand champion in Bohol’s second belen-making competition, the Bohol Arts and Cultural Heritage Council announced Thursday.

Guindulman took home a P300, 000 cash reward.

The local government of Loon came second with P200,000 prize, while the local government of Tagbilaran was third placer with P100,000.

Meanwhile, some municipalities received the “Belen Special Awards.”

The municipality of Jagna received “Kakugi Award,” “Kabilin Award” and “Katahum Award.”

The municipality of Sagbayan won the “Mugna Award.”

The municipality of San Miguel won the “Dasig Award.”

The awarding of winners will be on Dec. 18.

There were 16 municipalities which participated in this year’s contest which showcased the richness of the Boholano Christmas culture, traditions and heritage .

Unlike last year that the belens were displayed at CPG Park during the launching of “Kasadya! Pasko sa Bohol”, the belens were displayed at their respective towns.

A “belen” is a recreation of the biblical tale of the birth of Jesus Christ in a stable after his parents, Joseph and Mary, were turned away by an innkeeper.

Grand Prize – LGU of Guindulman
2nd Prize- LGU of Loon
3rd Prize- LGU of Tagbilaran City
