A woman who was linked to drugs was shot dead by riding-in-tandem suspects on Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 15, in Tagbilaran City.
The victim, identified as Jenelyn Matura, 37, a resident of Dauis town, was with former Alburquerque Mayor Elpren Charles Tungol and Rey Duron when the shooting happened at around 5 pm in Barangay Dampas.
Matura was driving the sports utility vehicle (SUV) owned by Tungol who was also with her during the ambush when they were hailed by two riding-in-tandem suspects. They were on their way to a hospital.
Matura sustained gunshot wounds in the head, while Tungol and Duroy sustained minor injuries.
Recovered at the scene were nine empty bullet shells.
Matura was arrested last May along with other suspects during a buy-bust operation in Tagbilaran City. They were allegedly caught in possession of shabu worth P13 million. However, she was released after she was pinpointed as just an accomplice.
