A peace rally was held at Trinidad Public Market on Thursday, December 10, 2020.
It was organized by the 150 former rebels of Bohol in cooperation with the local government unit of Trinidad and various peace and order advocates.
The activity was in line with the International Human Rights Consciousness Week celebration with the theme “Karapatan at Pagbangon sa Lahat ng Panahon: Recover Better-Stand Up for Human Rights”.
As one of the peace campaign efforts to sustain the peace and order in the province, the former rebels took over the streets to denounce the atrocities of the CPP-NPA-NDF that were clearly violating the rights of every Filipino.
They carried placards condemning the terrorist groups and calling their activities “unwelcomed” in Bohol.
“Stop the deceptive recruitment. Give justice to the civilians who died fighting with the communist ideology. Stop the wrong propaganda against the government.
Let the people know how these CPP-NPA-NDF destroy the lives of our youths”, the former rebels shouted as some of them gave their testimonies during the activity.
Bernie Banal, president of Grupong Bol-anon alang sa Kalinaw ug Kalambuan (GBKK) and a former rebel calls for the unity of all Boholanos to help in ending the local communist armed conflict.
“Let us open our eyes and take our part to strengthen our democratic government in order to sustain progress and development in our community. Together we will protect our family and the good future of our youth,” Banal said.
