Bohol Governor Arthur Yap on Tuesday has tasked the provincial police director to conduct a deep investigation into the killing of a village councilor in Balilihan town.
“Atong gitahasan ang Provincial Director sa kapulisan sa atong lalawigan nga maghimo ug lawm nga imbestigasyon kalabot sa insidente aron madakop ang mga kriminal sa labing daling panahon ug aron mahatagan ug hustisya ang biktima,” he said in a statement posted on his Facebook account.
Barangay Councilor Lucresia Tasic, 55, was killed by unidentified assailants inside her home in Barangay Hanopol Norte on Tuesday morning.
Lt. Jefren Eulogio, chief of Balilihan Police Station, said Tasic died from three gunshot wounds in the body.
Tasic’s 16-year-old son told police that his mother was about to take a bath when the two unidentified men arrived and disembarked from a white van.
Tasic, who was about to visit her daughter admitted at Catigbian District Hospital, asked her son to buy shampoo.
The son told the police that before he left their house, he overheard them claiming they were employees of the provincial Capitol who came to discuss about the incoming operation tuli in the barangay.
When he was on his way home, he heard bursts of gunfire and saw the men fleeing towards the van parked near their house and left.
Yap said it was too early to conclude that the alleged assailants were really Capitol employees.
“Ang naunang gikataho nga ang mga mamumuno mga trabahante sa Kapitolyo, dili gayud insakto tungod kay mao pay pagsugod sa atong kapulisan sa ilang imbestigasyon,” he said.
Yap said Boholanos who are law-abiding and God-fearing strongly oppose people who do not value the sanctity of life.
“Atong awhagon ang tanan sa pag-ampo ngadto sa Labaw’ng Makagagahum nga iya unta kitang panalipdan sa kanunay batok sa mga tawo nga adunay dautan nga plano ug magdala ug kagubot sa atong lalawigan,” he added.
