A 41-year-old vegetable vendor has been stabbed to death as he slept in the seaside of Balong-Balong Beach in Barangay Cogon, Tagbilaran City.
Police identified the victim as Noel “Opaw” Alberio, a resident of Graham Avenue in Barangay Cogon in the city.
The incident happened at around 3 p. m.
Gilbert Paul Udtohan said that Alberio was asleep on the hammock at the seaside of Balong-Balong Beach after their drinking spree when the attack reportedly occurred.
He said a man later identified as Clifford Monton, a resident of Barangay Booy in Tagbilaran City, arrived and stabbed Alberio in the neck with a kitchen knife.
The family of Alberio said the two were friends.
The suspect surrendered to barangay officials.
The man’s motives are still not certain, according to the police.
