Garbage collection services in Tagbilaran City will resume their normal operations on Monday, November 25.
Mayor John Geesnell Yap II announced this on his Facebook page on Friday.
He also informed the residents that only garbage which were already segregated will be accepted.
Uncollected bags were seen on streets in Tagbilaran two days after the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) closed the Tagbilaran dumpsite in Barangay Dampas for operating as an open dumpsite instead of a material recovery facility (MRF).
Open dumpsite is strictly prohibited under Republic Act (RA) 9003 or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000.
