A man’s body was found dumped near a river in Clarin town Friday morning, November 13, 2020.

Lt. Eleazar Mellomida, Clarin acting police chief, identified the victim as Edmund Supilanas, 28, a resident of Barangay Poblacion Norte.

Mellomida said that at 6:30 a.m. a passerby who had a morning jogging discovered the body floating in the river near the bridge which connects Poblacion Centro to Barangay Tangaran.

The passerby reported the incident to the local police who conducted an investigation.

Mellomida said according to Dr. Rina Jane Demandante, Clarin health officer, the body sustained laceration wound below his left eye, abrasion on his arm and stragulation marks around his neck.

There was a possibility that the victim was salvaged and dumped near the river, he said.

In an initial investigation, Supilanas was last seen at Clarin port who had a drinking spree. It was also found out that he had a heated argument with other men before his death.

As part of their ongoing investigation, Mellomida said they are also looking for closed circuit television (CCTV) recordings to determine who brought the body to the area.
