A person detained at the Tagbilaran City Police Station detention facility had been rearrested, a police official said Thursday.
The escapee identified as Ian Maromas Abendan, 27, was nabbed by members of the Tagbilaran police at. 9 a. m. today, Nov. 12.
According to Lt. Col. Mary Crystal Peralta, chief of Tagbilaran City Police Station, Abendan escaped from the facility on Wednesday afternoon.
Abendan asked the jailer if he could hang his clothes. However, he fled by jumping over the fence.
“According sa ating jailer, umakyat siya sa ating fence at makikita natin na napakababa ng fence natin,” Peralta said.
Abendan, who has charges of carnapping and frustrated murder, was rearrested at Tomas Cloma Street in Barangay Booy in Tagbilaran City after a citizen tipped the police of his presence.
Peralta, the first woman chief of Tagbilaran police, said she asked the city government to allocate funds to rise the fence higher to prevent future incidents.
“May resquest na po tayo diyan para sa ganun na mapaakyat o maextend yung fence po natin para hundi na maulit,” said Peralta.
