Boholano boxer Mark “Magnifico” Magsayo (21-0, 14 KOs) kept his record perfect after defeating Mexican bruiser Rigoberto Hermosillo (11-3-1, 8 KOs) via split decision at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Saturday (Sunday, Manila time).

The scores were 96-94 for Hermosillo, and 100-90 and 96-94 for Magsayo.

Magsayo, fighting under the MP Promotions banner, said he was fighting for the first time on US soil.

Magsayo came out with an efficient 33% shots landed after the 10-round bout.

Magsayo gave only small punches over Hermosillo’s. However, he was more aggressive in the last three rounds and eventually propelled him to the win.

The pride of Bohol Province had gone a long way since he defeated Panya Uthok via unanimous decision at his hometown in Tagbilaran City, Bohol last Aug. 31, 2019.

“I hope I can entertain the Filipino people at this time of the pandemic. I will do my best to win this game,” Magsayo, who holds an impressive record of 20 wins with 14 KOs, told United States-based YouTube channel “FinoBoxing” in an interview.
