Bohol province has 13 new Covid-19 cases in a day, bringing the total number of confirmed virus carriers to 144 as of Friday, August 21.
Governor Arthur Yap, on his Facebook post, he said that 11 came from Talibon town (10 from Guindacpan Island in Talibon town and one from Barangay San Jose), while two patients came from the island of Malingin, Bien Unido town.
He said while all the patients are asymptomatic only one from Guindacpan Island was hospitalized at Governor Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital in Tagbilaran after having Covid-19 symptoms.
All had no travel history. They were not also locals stranded or overseas Filipino workwrs (OFWs).
As of now, Bohol has 35 active cases where 29 because of active community transmissions, 102 recoveries and 7 deaths.
Guindacpan and Malingin Islands were still placed under lockdown.
Philippine National Police Security team, Seaborne Patrol Unit and personnel of Armed Forces of the Philippines were deployed at the islands to enforce the lockdown.
“We are intensifying our presence in our island baranggays to prevent the indiscriminate and unmonitored travel of people to and fro the island baranggays of Bohol and Cebu,” Yap said.
He said the provincial government is continously in touch with the Mayors and monitoring the situation closely.
“Let us help our province by offering our prayers to those communities affected and most of all, by following three simple instructions: wear masks, keep distance and wash hands.Daghang salamat. God save Bohol,” Yap said.
