A two-year-old boy from Buenavista town, who was the youngest Covid-19 patient in Bohol, died Wednesday, August 19.
Dr. Cesar Tomas Lopez, spokesperson of the Bohol Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases, announced during the Capitol’s virtual presser that the boy from Barangay Putingbato tested positive for Covid-19 citing the result obtained from the Department of Health (DOH).
He said the child died at 6 a.m. on Wednesday (August 19) at Governor Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital (GCGMH) in Tagbilaran City.
Lopez said the boy who was severely weak and had difficulty in breathing was admitted on Sunday night, August 16.
He said the boy who had microcephaly was also severely malnourished.
The child got infected due to community transmission since he had no travel history.
Buenavista Mayor Dave Duallo, on a Facebook post, said Sitio Nangka in Barangay Putingbato where the child lived was placed on lockdown.
Contact tracing has been conducted in the said municipalities.
The child was the seventh fatality in the province.
As of Wednesday, August 19, Bohol has 131 Covid-19 cases. There were 23 active cases, 101 recoveries and 7 deaths.
