3 more in Malingin Island, Bien Unido’s COVID-19 cases now 17

Three more cases of Covid-19 were recorded in Bohol province on Tuesday, August 18.

Governor Arthur Yap on Tuesday morning said these new patients were residents of Malingin Island.

Swab samples were obtained from 81 residents where three turned positive.

They were swabbed as part of the contact tracing measures of health authorities as a patient earlier tested positive and was found to be due to community transmission, the source of infection is untraceable.

“Magmabinantayon ta kanunay. Sundon nato ang minimum health standards. Labaw sa tanan, magpujo ta sa balay kung walay importanteng lakwon sa gawas,” Yap appealed to Boholanos.

Malingin Island continues to be lockdown for contact tracing.

Government authorities have provided basic supplies for the island dwellers and law enforcers were deployed to ensure successful containment and contact tracing measures.

Last week, nine cases were reported in Malingin Island. With this, total COVID-19 cases in Bien Unido is now 17, with one death.
