A 40-year-old man and his four-year-old son were injured after an unidentified assailant shot them in Barangay Baud, President Carlos P. Garcia town Monday dawn, August 17.
Police investigation said that as Rolando Garcia and his son, Rolando Garcia Jr., were on their way home from a fiesta celebration around 2 a.m., an unidentified suspect wearing a black jacket fired his gun at them hitting the father’s elbow.
Garcia immediately shielded his son as they tried to escape to a well-lit area but the perpetrator continued shooting.
The child then complained that his stomach hurt, and it turned out that the toddler was hit in the abdomen.
Despite sustaining gunshot wounds himself, the older Garcia was still able to call for help.
A concerned neighbor assisted them in getting immediate medical attention in a nearby hospital.
They were then transferred to Governor Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital in Tagbilaran City for further treatment.
Currently, the father is in stable condition while his child is recovering from surgery.
Police is still investigating the incident.
