COVID-19 positive Boholano OFW remains ‘asymptomatic’

The Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) who tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) still does not manifest any symptoms while being monitored at the quarantine facility.

This was the update given by Dr. Yul Lopez, spokesman of the Technical Working Group (TWG) of the Provincial Emergency Management Administration (PEMA), this afternoon during the regular briefing of the Provincial Government of Bohol Updates aired via Facebook live.

According to Lopez, the OFW’s body temperature recorded today is at 36.3 degrees Celsius and is doing well while on quarantine inside his room at the Crab House.

“We are not bothered at all sa sitwasyon aning nag-positive,” Lopez said.

He added that they are waiting for the third swab test result of the OFW that was sent to the sub-national laboratory at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) in Cebu City.

Meanwhile, Lopez reported that there are currently six individuals who are considered persons under monitoring (PUMs) and on home isolation.

There are 15 individuals who are also PUMs and are now admitted at different health facilities in the province.

While there remains to be 51 OFWs who are still on quarantine and awaiting the results of their second swab test.

Under the health protocols, an OFW can only return home if they have underwent a 14-day quarantine and tested negative twice for COVID-19.

According to the data released by Mae Codilla, OIC Regional Director of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) in Region 7, they have already sent home 69 OFWs to Bohol province.

OWWA-7 has facilitated the safe return of 241 OFWs to different areas in the Visayas and Mindanao.

Codilla revealed that there are still more than 500 OFWs that are stranded in Cebu and thousands more in Manila that are yet to come home to their different provinces.
