Two patients who tested positive of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) succumbed to the illness on Sunday.
This brings the total death toll to eight (8) in Central Visayas, according to the latest data released by the Department of Health Central Visayas Center for Health Development (DOH-CHD-7).
The two fatalities were both from Cebu province.
An 84-year-old male from Talisay City and a 72-year-old female from Cebu City were identified by DOH-CHD 7 as the recent fatalities.
In a previous post on Facebook by Talisay City Mayor Gerald Anthony “Samsam” Gullas, he said that the COVID-19 positive patient from Barangay Lawaan 1, Talisay City was admitted in a hospital in Cebu City last March 25.
The patient also happens to be the first reported in the city.
Meanwhile, DOH-CHD-7 has recorded one new COVID-19 case in Cebu.
The patient who tested positive is a 67-year-old female from Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu.
There are now a total of 35 reported cases in Central Visayas.
