Bohol Governor Arthur Yap on Thursday extended the community quarantine in Bohol.
In his video message addressed to Boholanos, the community quarantine which restricted domestic air, and domestic sea travel to Bohol
will run until April 12, 2020.
Yap said there is a need to extend the community quarantine based on the assessment and recommendation of the Technical Working Group (TWG) on New Emerging Infectious Diseases (Bohol COVID-19 Task Force.
He cited these following reasons for such extension:
•Barangay and municipal isolation units are not ready yet.
•The Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams still have to undergo training or orientation on the new COVID-19 protocols.
•Central Isolation Center is not yet put in place.
•The personal protection equipment and other supplies are still on procurement process.
•Test kits and swab kits are very limited.
•Lack of community awareness on the self-quarantine despite widespread information dissemination.
•Violations pn social distancing in public areas are still prevalent.
•Lack of compliance on the Department of Transportation protocol by public transport operators.
•Coastal security needs to be strengthened.
•Substantial number of returning residents classified as persons under monitoring (PUMS) have not complied with the mandatory 14-day home quarantine.
Bohol is home to more than 1.3 million people.
The disease, declared a global pandemic by the World Health Organization, has infected 217 persons and has claimed the lives of 12 others in the Philippines.
