A former Bohol radioman was stabbed to death Sunday night, Sept. 18, 2022 in Mabinay town in Negros Oriental.

Police Maj. Paul Vincent Dumaguing, chief of Mabinay Police Station, identified the victim Rey Blanco, who worked for Power 102.1 DYRY RFM a radio station based in Mabinay.

Blanco, a resident of Bais City, died due to multiple stab wounds even before reaching Mabinay Community Hospital where he was rushed to by neighbors.

The suspect, Charles Yanoc Amada of Brgy. Himucdongon, Mabinay, Negros Oriental, voluntarily surrendered to the responding police. He was detained at the police station’s detention facility.

Mabinay Police said that Blanco went to the house of Wilbert Amada, brother of the suspect, when the suspect suddenly appeared from behind and without any reason stabbed the victim using bladed weapon hitting on the victim’s neck.

Aldrick Caseres, grandson of Blanco, said the family wants justice.

“Lolo Rey Blanco, I hope mahatagan og hustisya ang imong hinanaling kamatayon,
Ayaw pa katulga Ang nagkotlo sa imong kinabuhi Lo. Hustisya para sa Akong Apuhan,” he said.

Blanco became a broadcaster at station dYRD in Bohol before moving to Bais City, Negros Oriental. He continued his work as a broadcaster and commentator on Power 102.1 DYRY FM Mabinay.
