Franz Cameron Villacastin Tadena has won 5 medals in the recently concluded ISI (Ice Sports Industry) ASIA Championship Series Final 2019 held in Bangkok, Thailand.
The international ice skating competition which was held at Central Plaza Grand Rama9 last January 17 -18, 2020 was joined in by figure skaters from across the world.
Tadena, a member of the Cebu Ice Skating Club Inc., won one gold medal for dramatic spotlight.
He also won four silver medals in the technical, footwork and open freestyle event and solo compulsories.
He had to compete with other skaters from four countries.
In a Facebook post, Tadena thanked his family, coaches, friends and God.
“I would like to thank all of my Coaches, designers, friends, family, and to our most beloved God,” he said.
He said it was the hardest competition since his competitor was trained under FS5 (figure skating ISI freestyle 5 technical) for a long time.
FS5 required maneuvers such as Lutz Jump
Axel Jump, Camel Spin, Camel-Sit-Upright Spin,
Fast Back Scratch Spin,Left Forward Outside, Closed Swing Choctaw, Left Forward Inside Open Choctaw, Left Forward Outside Bracket, Right Forward Inside Bracket, Right Forward Inside Twizzle, and Right Back Outside Twizzle / Dance Step Sequence.
“But the good thing,” he said, “I got second over-all which was really amazing.”
Last year, Tadena had also won 8 medals (3 golds, 2 silvers and 3 bronze) at the 2019 Skate Asia held in Bangkok, Thailand.
Tadena, who hails from Jagna town, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Doyens and Marissa Tadena.
