Justice Gabriel Torrero Ingles has again been designated as executive justice of the Court of Appeals (CA) Cebu Station.
In an administrative order issued on December 26, 2019, Supreme Court Chief Justice Diosdado Peralta chose Ingles to succeed Justice Edgardo delos Santos who has been appointed as SC associate justice.
Two others, aside from Ingles, were also recommended to the post, namely, Justices Pamela Ann Abella Maxino and Marilyn Lagura-Yap.
Ingles served as CA Cebu executive justice from February 2014 to October 2018.
A native of Tagbilaran, Ingles was a former dean of the College of Law of the University of San Carlos.
He is known as an unflinching judge over major drug cases and refused to take his allowance from the Cebu provincial Capitol and Cebu City Hall in order to maintain his judicial independence.
