Tagbilaran native Anfernee Lopena and his team won gold medal in the 4×100 meter mixed relay team in the 30th Southeast Asian Games on Sunday.

The Philippine National Team composed of Eric Cray, Kristina Knott, Anfernee Lopena, and Eloiza Luzon clocked in 41.67 seconds winning the gold medal in a dramatic fashion.

Thailand took the silver medal with a time 41.99 seconds, while Malaysia got the bronze at 42.20 seconds.

Lopena, 25, is taking up
Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Computer Applications at De La Salle College of St. Benilde.

Prior to bringing the banner of Bohol at the ongoing SEA Games, Lopena earlier won the 2019 Philippine Athletic Champs held in Ilagan, Isabela. He likewise emerged victorious at the Singapore Open and in Asian Champs in Doha, Qatar.

Lopena traces his student-athlete roots via Holy Name University High School in Bohol, where he competed in various sports competitions representing Tagbilaran City and Bohol Province.

This is his second consecutive SEA Games appearance, having represented the Philippines in both 2017 and 2019 competitions.

Last week, Boholana obstacle racer Diana Bühler and her team won gold medal in the Obstacle Sports/Obstacle Course Racing (OCR) Mixed Team Relay 400-meters event of the 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.
