A man was killed while two others were injured following a road accident in Baclayon on Sunday morning.

Authorities identified the fatality as Renjie Tirol, a backhoe driver and a native of Cebu. His two backriders who were injured were James Rey Gamarcha, 30, and Carlito Bison, 33, both construction workers and natives of Negros Occidental.

Police Senior Master Sergeant Alexander Tubig of Baclayon Police Station said based on the initial police investigation, the victims were on their way to Loboc town at 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 10, when they tried to overtake another vehicle. They were accidentally sideswiped by an incoming vehicle in Barangay Sta. Cruz in Baclayon town.

Authorities said that all three victims were immediately rushed to a hospital in Tagbilaran but Tirol later succumbed to his injuries while Bison remained at the hospital.
Gamarcha was discharged after doctors found that he only sustained minor injuries from the road crash.
