First all-women police station opens in Maria, Siquijor

The Philippine National Police (PNP) launched on Saturday, September 14, its first Municipal police station in Siquijor that will be managed only by policewomen.

The all-women police station in the Municipality of Maria in Siquijor was named as the “Mariang Pulis.”

There are 21 police women designated at the Mariang Pulis who undergone training including driving, shooting, arresting and other procedures for police operations.

The initiatice was supported by Central Visayas Regional Director Brig. Gen. Debold Sinas.

Sinas said the launching of the police station shows their support for women empowerment.

Maria, a coastal municipality in the island province of Siquijor, has a population of 13,828.

It is known for its white-sandy beaches like the Salagdoong Beach Resort and the centuries-old Our Lady of Providence Parish Church which houses the miraculous image of Santa Rita de Cascia, the patroness of all hardship.
