A 13-year-old boy died after the tricycle driven by his father fell from the road in Pangangan Island, Calape town on Sunday, July 2, police said.
According to Police Master Staff Sergeant Cromwell Enriquez of Calape Police Station, the incident occurred at around 5:50 p.m. along the causeway.
Police investigation showed that the victim, together with his family and other relatives, were on their way home after a picnic in one of the beaches on the island.
The drive identified as Julian Gonzalos was amazed of gleaners on the beach that he didn’t notice the front wheel of his tricycle went off the road’s edge.
The tricycle fell from the road before hitting an electric post.
Gonzalos’ son, Zunle, was thrown out of the vehicle hitting his head on the stones.
The child was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. Other family members were treated for minor injuries.
Police say the older Gonzalos was drunk.
