In order to ensure the safety of passengers and tourists, the Philippine Coast Guard in Central Visayas (PCG-7) spearheaded the inspection of motorbancas’ compliance in ferrying them.

Today, they conducted a Sustained Sychronized Maritime Safety Enforcement Patrol in Mactan Island, Cebu and other neighboring islets.

Lt. Jr. Grade Michael John Encina, spokesman of PCG-7 they used five of their floating assets for the said patrol.


This effort is in partnership with the Maritime Industry Authority in Region 7(MARINA-7) and the Department of Tourism in Region 7 (DOT-7).
“Further, this endeavor will ensure that all their operations are legitimate and in accordance with the safety standard set forth by the authority,” Encina added.

The activity intends to encourage more tourists (both local and foreign) to visit Central Visayas and to inform them that the vessel/motorbancas here are safe to use during Island hopping activities.///
