Two brothers were killed in front of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) in Carmen town on Monday morning.

They were supposed to attend a hearing when they were flagged down by a white van with armed men on board.

Erico and Romeo Digal were on board a Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) vehicle along with other three inmates when the shooting happened.

They came from the Bohol District Jail in Tagbilaran City.

The gunmen, who were wearing vests and bonnet to cover their faces, fled after the incident.

Apart from the brothers, two others were hurt in the incident including another inmate and a jail guard.

The jail guard was identified as PJ1 George Lungay and the inmate hurt was Jubel Pajal.

Two other inmates Levy Genita and Alvin Fortaleza remained unscathed.

According to Police Major Jodel Torregosa, chief of Carmen Police Station, the armed men instructed the three other inmates and the jail guard to come out of the vehicle.

“Ingon nila “Dapa mo. Wala mo’y labot. Kini rang duha,” said Torregosa.

The Digal brothers were both involved in illegal drugs.

Erico was identified as a drug lord operating in the said town but was arrested by police in Cavite last year.

As of this writing, police are still investigating the killing of the Digal brothers.
