The Gallares community gathered Monday morning (Dec. 26) to pay its final respects to perished loved ones, three days after a fire broke the coastal community in Barangay Poblacion 2 that killed 3 people.

The mass funeral capped days of prayers and mourning from relatives and friends.

The Requiem was held at St. Joseph the Worker Cathedral Shrine officiated by Bishop Abet Uy.

Edgar Manzano and his common-law wife Remegios, and their 10-year-old daughter were trapped during the incident. Their son, Grey, 12, survived the fire who at that time slept at the nearby church for the Misa de Gallo where he served as sacristan.

At least 75 families were homeless which are staying at the barangay evacuation center.
