CATIGBIAN, Bohol — A 47-year-old man was arrested after allegedly choking his two minor children during a heated domestic dispute in Barangay Poblacion Weste, Catigbian, on Saturday night, October 24, police said.

The Catigbian Municipal Police Station responded to a report received through the 911 hotline shortly after 9 p.m. and found the two children waiting by the roadside upon arriving at the scene.

One of the minors told police that their father allegedly choked them after becoming angry with his live-in partner over his belief that a sack of rice had been sold.

The suspect was arrested at around 10:20 p.m. in Purok 4 of the barangay.

Police said the man was suspected of having consumed alcohol and tested positive in an alcohol breath test after undergoing a medical examination at the Catigbian Health Center.

He was brought to the police station for documentation and proper disposition and remained in custody pending the filing of a complaint for an alleged violation of Republic Act 7610, or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act.
