TAGBILARAN CITY — Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jonvic Remulla has urged Bohol Gov. Erico Aristotle Aumentado to replace the province’s TaRSIER 117 emergency hotline with the national 911 system to unify emergency response services across the country.
Remulla made the request during his visit to Bohol on Thursday, Oct. 15, coinciding with the turnover of 50 emergency response motorcycles to the police.
Remulla said adopting the national emergency hotline would make it easier and faster for the public to seek assistance during emergencies.
The proposed change would align Bohol’s emergency response system with the government’s efforts to establish a unified nationwide hotline.
TaRSIER 117 was launched on March 25, 2011, during the administration of then-Gov. Edgar Chatto. It serves as the emergency response and operations center of the Bohol Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.
The proposed transition would mark a significant change for the province’s established emergency response service as the government pushes for a more integrated national emergency response system.
