The Central Visayas Association of Museums (CVAM) held its annual General Assembly on Saturday, Jan. 21, at the National Museum Bohol (NMB) in Tagbilaran City.
In a Facebook post, NMB said the event aimed to further establish and promote reputable museums in the region.
The National Museum welcomed partners in culture and heritage from the 1730 Jesuit House, Amarela Resort Museum, Archdiocesan Museum of Cebu, Casa Gorordo, Diocese of Tagbilaran, Museo Parroquial de Baclayon, NHCP Museo ng Pamana at Kasaysayang Boholano, Nova Shell Museum, and representatives of LGU Balilihan, Batuan, Buenavista, Tagbilaran City, and Gen. Joseph Sevilla.
Tagbilaran City Mayor Jane Yap warmly greeted the participants from Bohol, Cebu and Negros Oriental. She expressed her commitment in promoting cultural appreciation in the city.
Dr. Jose Eleazar Bersales, head of the NCCA’s National Committee on Museums (NCOM), laid down the national government’s programs in assisting local museums in the country.
Ruel Rigor, a distinguished tourism planner in the region, discussed the significant relationship of tourism and museums.
On Saturday, the newly inducted officers of CVAM were sworn in by Yap.
