CATIGBIAN, Bohol — A 36-year-old delivery van driver died after he was pinned inside the vehicle when it overturned along the national highway in Barangay Mahayag Norte, Catigbian, Bohol, at about 11:50 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2026.
Police identified the victim as a native of Barangay Jandayan Norte, Getafe town.
Initial investigation by the Catigbian Police Station showed that the panel delivery van was traveling toward Carmen to deliver goods. The driver was accompanied by a sales agent and a truck boy.
Upon reaching Purok 4 in Barangay Mahayag Norte, the driver reportedly swerved to avoid an oncoming vehicle. He lost control of the van, crossed out of his lane and overturned.
The driver was thrown from his seat and became pinned when the vehicle overturned.
He was rushed to a hospital but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
The two passengers in the delivery van were reportedly safe and escaped the crash without serious injuries.
Police are continuing their investigation into the incident.
