TAGBILARAN CITY— The Diocese of Tagbilaran will formally install Most Rev. Crispin Varquez y Barrete, D.D., as its eighth bishop in a canonical possession and solemn installation ceremony on Oct. 27, 2026.

The ceremony will be held at 9 a.m. at the St. Joseph the Worker Cathedral Shrine-Parish in Tagbilaran City, where the faithful are expected to gather to welcome the new shepherd of the diocese.

The Diocese of Tagbilaran said the installation marks the beginning of Varquez’s episcopal ministry and service to the Catholic faithful of Bohol.

“We give thanks to God for the gift of a new shepherd to lead our Diocese and accompany us in our journey of faith,” the diocese said in its invitation to the faithful.

The diocese also said it entrusts Varquez’s ministry to the maternal care of the Blessed Virgin Mary, seeking her intercession as he begins his service in Bohol.

The installation will be presided over by Most Rev. Alberto S. Uy, D.D., Archbishop of Cebu.

Cardinal Jose F. Advincula, Archbishop of Manila, will deliver the homily, while Most Rev. Charles John Brown, D.D., Apostolic Nuncio to the Philippines, will also attend the ceremony.

The Diocese of Tagbilaran has invited the faithful to join the celebration and welcome Varquez as its new bishop.

“Join us as we welcome our new Bishop,” the diocese said.
