TAGBILARAN CITY— Bohol Governor Erico Aristotle Aumentado has officially declared a dengue outbreak across the province following a sharp increase in cases and deaths linked to the mosquito-borne disease.
The declaration was made through an Executive Order after provincial health authorities recorded 1,883 dengue cases and 21 deaths from January 4 to August 22, 2026.
According to official data, the number of cases has exceeded the province’s dengue epidemic threshold for three consecutive weeks, prompting the provincial government to implement intensified measures to control the spread of the disease.
Under the Executive Order, all local government units (LGUs) are directed to strengthen the implementation of the 4S Strategy against dengue: Search and Destroy mosquito-breeding sites, employ Self-Protection measures, Seek Early Consultation, and Support fogging or spraying in hotspot areas when indicated.
LGUs are also instructed to intensify the “Search and Destroy” campaign by promoting the 4 o’clock habit, encouraging communities to regularly inspect and eliminate possible mosquito-breeding areas around their homes and establishments.
The province will likewise implement the 1-3-7 Intensified Vector Control Strategy for confirmed dengue cases to ensure prompt response and control measures in affected areas.
Hospitals and health centers across Bohol will be allowed to establish Dengue Fast Lanes to facilitate faster assessment and treatment of suspected and confirmed cases.
The provincial government will also allocate funds for the purchase of essential medicines, medical supplies and equipment needed to respond to the outbreak.
The Bohol Provincial Anti-Dengue Task Force will be further strengthened and reactivated to coordinate provincewide efforts aimed at containing the spread of dengue and preventing additional deaths.
Health authorities continue to urge the public to eliminate stagnant water and other potential breeding sites of Aedes mosquitoes, observe personal protection measures, and seek immediate medical attention when dengue symptoms develop.
