TALIBON, Bohol — The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) of Talibon has issued an Ashfall Advisory, urging residents to take precautionary measures due to the possibility of volcanic ashfall following the recent activity of Kanlaon Volcano.
Residents are advised to stay indoors whenever possible and wear an N95 mask when going outside. If an N95 mask is unavailable, authorities recommend wearing two regular face masks or covering the nose and mouth with a clean, damp cloth.
The public is also encouraged to wear goggles or protective eyewear to prevent eye irritation from volcanic ash.
The advisory further urges households to keep windows and doors closed, cover food and drinking water to prevent contamination, and avoid non-essential travel.
Motorists who need to travel are advised to drive cautiously and keep their vehicle headlights on.
Authorities also reminded parents, older adults, pregnant women, and individuals with respiratory illnesses to avoid exposure to volcanic ash, as they are more vulnerable to its health effects.
The MDRRMO urged the public to monitor official updates from PHIVOLCS and local authorities and refrain from spreading unverified information.
Officials emphasized that public safety remains the municipality’s top priority and called on residents to remain vigilant and prepared.
