Open water swimmer Cleevan Kayne Alegres, also known as The Little Merman, has successfully swam around Mactan Island in Cebu in 17 hours, 37 minutes and 35 seconds.
Alegres, 25, was the first person to swim around the island.
He started the swim at 5 p. m. on April 25 and finished at 10:30 a. m. on April 26, the eve of the 500th anniversary of the historic Battle of Mactan.
Earlier, the Lapu-Lapu City native swimmer-diver challenged Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan to buy garbage compactor machine for the barangays after his quest in swimming around Mactan Island in one day.
Alegres said he would not stop creating more awareness environmental concerns.
