CLARIN, Bohol — A 41-year-old fisherman was found dead after reportedly drowning while fishing alone off the coast of Barangay Tangaran here on Tuesday afternoon.
The victim was identified as Alberto Escabas Jr, 41, married, and a resident of Sitio Tinago, Barangay Tangaran.
According to a report from the Clarin Municipal Police Station, fisherman Desiden Sitoy discovered Escabas lying lifeless in muddy waters along the shoreline at around 3:15 p.m.
Police said Escabas had told his mother at about noon that he would go fishing alone. At around 1 p.m., he was still seen talking with neighbors and telling them about his plan to fish.
His neighbors were later shocked when he was found dead near the shoreline.
A post-mortem examination conducted by Dr. Reina Jane Demandante, municipal health officer of Clarin, found no visible injuries or signs of physical trauma on Escabas’ body.
