BOHOL — In a vibrant celebration of academic achievement and institutional pride, Bohol Island State University (BISU) concluded its 2025 Commencement Exercises across its campuses, honoring more than 2,400 graduates under the theme “#Kadaugan: Celebrating Successes, Building Legacies.”
The ceremonies recognized not just the academic milestones of the Class of 2025 but also their role as future leaders and contributors to both local and national development.
BISU Calape Campus: A spark of hope
On June 23, BISU Calape Campus held its 41st Commencement Exercises at the Calape Sports and Cultural Center, recognizing 315 graduates.
Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Chairperson Dr. Shirley Agrupis served as the commencement speaker, delivering an inspiring message on perseverance, purpose, and public service. She reminded graduates that they are “scholars ng bayan,” whose education is a product of the nation’s collective investment.
A highlight of the event was the Governor’s Academic Excellence Award, conferred on Roosevelt Fritz Empleo for his outstanding academic performance.
Governor Erico Aristotle Aumentado, through Provincial Legal Officer Atty. Handel Lagunay, praised the graduates as “ambassadors of goodwill” for Bohol—now recognized as the country’s first and only UNESCO Global Geopark and Regenerative Island.
Representing Rep. Edgar Chatto, Damalerio encouraged graduates to view their achievement as a shared victory with BISU, the “School of Excellence.”
BISU Main Campus: Building Legacies
The following day, June 24, the BISU Main Campus held its 92nd Commencement Exercises at the Bohol Wisdom Gymnasium, conferring degrees on 1,082 graduates from the College of Teacher Education, College of Engineering, Architecture, and Industrial Design, and the Graduate School of Advanced Studies.
Dauis Mayor Roman Bullen inspired graduates with stories of determination and service, while Tagbilaran Mayor Jane Yap, represented by City Administrator Cathy Torremocha, highlighted the importance of resilience behind every success.
Balilihan Mayor-Elect Ester Patrisha Chatto, speaking on behalf of Rep. Chatto, reminded graduates that while their academic journey has ended, their mission as nation-builders has just begun.
Aumentado, again through Lagunay, urged the Class of 2025 to take pride in being Boholanos and to champion the province’s thrust toward sustainable and regenerative development.
Special awards were also given to two exemplary graduates: Tereso Auditor Jr., who received the Leadership Excellence Award, and Doris Angela Molina, who earned the Academic Excellence Award.
Final Leg of #Kadaugan: 1,073 more honored
On June 25, the final leg of BISU’s graduation ceremonies was held, honoring 1,073 graduates from the College of Technology, College of Business and Management, and College of Arts and Sciences.
Brian Poe Llamanzares, Representative of the FPJ Panday Bayanihan Party-list, delivered the keynote address, calling on graduates to lead lives grounded in integrity and courage, and to always stand for what is right.
City Administrator Torremocha reaffirmed the city government’s faith in BISU graduates, calling them a source of hope for Tagbilaran and the entire province.
