VALENCIA, Bohol — A dolphin was found dead along the coastal area of Barangay Anas in Valencia, Bohol on the evening of February 10.
The discovery was reported past 6:00 p.m. by a fisherman from Barangay Anas, who later transported the dolphin to the Canmanico Fishport for proper documentation.
Authorities said the dolphin measured approximately 92 inches in length and 15 inches in width.
Initial reports indicated that the cause of death has not yet been established. However, officials noted that the dolphin may have been accidentally trapped or entangled at sea prior to its death.
Local authorities have called on fishermen and residents in coastal communities to promptly report any sightings of stranded, injured, or dead marine animals, particularly those classified as protected species.
Dolphins are protected under environmental and wildlife laws, and authorities stressed the importance of responsible reporting and coordination to help preserve marine biodiversity and protect the province’s coastal waters.
